Michigan Christmas Ornament
With it being my first holiday as a member of a pottery studio, I knew I had to make at least 1 ornament for myself…and a few options for you too.
These Michigan ornaments come in two color varieties but as you’ll see, each one is a little different due to the glazing process.
The cobalt (dark blue) ornaments were dipped in cobalt glaze, then I wiped away part of the glaze around the snowflake and 2024 stamps, and added a lighter blue glaze on top.
The boundary waters (orangish greenish) ornaments were first painted with wax resist in the stamping inlays (this took a very steady hand and a long time to get the detail down) and then dipped in boundary waters glaze. I love the variety that this glaze option yields.
Each ornament is finished with a delicate chiffon ribbon to hang from the tree.
